The great civil rights leader Fannie Lou Hamer noted that “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.” We love America, more for its promise than for its current state. Women, LGBTQ people, refugees and people of color are losing their rights. Books are being banned. The Supreme Court is corrupt. And there were 17 mass shootings this Independence Day — is that the kind of fireworks we want?
Come on Uncle Sam. You can do better!
